Refund & Returns Policy

Every Savoir-Faire piece is hand-crafted to order and individually made for the customer who commissions it. Because of this, we take special care with our returns and refund policy. This page explains when we will — and will not — accept a return, and what your rights are under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

1. No change-of-mind returns

All engagement rings, wedding bands, and fine jewellery sold by Savoir-Faire are made to order. Once manufacture of your piece has started we are unable to accept a return or offer a refund if you simply change your mind. This includes cases where:

  • you have chosen the wrong metal, shape, or size;
  • your intended recipient has different preferences than you anticipated;
  • the piece does not fit an occasion you had in mind;
  • a relationship circumstance changes after payment is made.

We strongly encourage every customer to book a free consultation and use our online ring-builder to confirm design, metal, and sizing before paying. If you are uncertain about any aspect, please contact us first.

2. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the ACL. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

A major failure occurs when goods:

  • would not have been purchased if the customer had known the nature and extent of the failure;
  • differ significantly from their description or sample;
  • are unfit for the purpose we told you they were fit for;
  • are unsafe.

3. Faulty items — 30-day inspection window

We ask you to inspect your piece on delivery and to notify us in writing of any manufacturing defect within 30 days of delivery. Early notification helps us diagnose and remedy issues quickly. Your ACL rights are not affected if you notify us later than 30 days.

We will assess the issue and offer repair, replacement or refund in accordance with the ACL.

4. How to make a return or claim

  1. Email support@savoir-fairejewellery.com.au with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photographs showing the problem.
  2. We will acknowledge your claim within 2 business days and may ask follow-up questions or request additional images.
  3. If a return is needed, we will send you a prepaid, insured shipping label. Please do not ship the piece back before you have the label — items returned uninsured are at your risk.
  4. We will assess the item within 10 business days of receiving it and confirm the outcome in writing.
  5. Where a refund is due, it will be processed to the original payment method within a further 5 business days. Bank clearing times are outside our control.

5. What is not covered

Our refund policy does not cover damage arising from:

  • normal wear and tear;
  • accidental damage, knocks, drops, or exposure to chemicals;
  • alterations, repairs or resizing performed by a third-party jeweller;
  • loss or theft after delivery;
  • personalised details the customer approved at order (for example, engraving content, initials, or specific stone selections).

Some of these issues may be covered under our separate Warranty.

6. Orders cancelled before manufacture

If you need to cancel an order before manufacture has started, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate the request. A cancellation fee may apply to cover administrative and diamond-reservation costs. These will be disclosed before we process any refund.

7. Buy-now-pay-later, instalment and payment-plan refunds

Where your purchase was funded through a buy-now-pay-later option (Afterpay, Zip, Klarna) or a finance arrangement (PayRight, Elevant), any refund will be processed back through the same provider. The provider’s terms govern how and when the refund reaches your account.
